Why I started Carbi

Last year my in-laws were helping my nephew buy his first car. They're sensible people who did the research, set a budget and compared models.

They found the process confusing, overwhelming and tiring.

• What cars are affordable to insure?
• What small cars are reliable and safe?
• Which dealers can you trust?

Since then I've spoken to dozens of parents in the same position. They're busy with life, not browsing car forums every night. They just want to make a good decision quickly without guesswork.

Platforms like Autotrader are useful when you know exactly what you're looking for. But most parents don't. They need clarity before they need listings.

There's a lack of help for parents and their teenagers finding a car, so I built carbi.

What Carbi does

Carbi has two parts.

1. Clear, practical guidance

A growing library of guides, comparisons and reviews written specifically for parents buying a first car for their teenager.

Straightforward information to help you choose confidently.

2. A curated dealer network (coming soon)

I'm building a network of trusted local dealers who regularly stock cars that suit young drivers. Not everyone can be on carbi. The dealers have to meet clear standards for fairness, transparency and customer service.

You tell us what your priorities are and we connect you with a dealer near you who has the right car in stock.

Who's behind Carbi?

I'm Iain. I've loved cars since I was a kid and my own son is a couple of years away from his first car.

I've spent my career working in tech, helping teams design and build products that solve their customer's problems. Carbi is the first one I'm building for families like mine.
